The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Dawsonville will convene the regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council starting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 in the G.L. “Pete” Gilleland Council Chambers at City Hall located at 415 Highway 53 East, Dawsonville, Georgia.  The public is invited to attend.

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

 

The following Public Hearings will be heard during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Dawsonville starting at 7:00 p.m. on the dates indicated below.  The meetings are held in the G.L. “Pete” Gilleland Council Chambers at City Hall located at 415 Highway 53 East, Dawsonville, Georgia.  The public is invited to attend.

 

An ordinance to repeal the Historic Preservation Ordinance of the City of Dawsonville Georgia, and to adopt a new Historic Preservation Ordinance for the same, to provide for a Historic Preservation Commission; to provide for the adoption of design standards; to provide for definitions; to provide for the designation of Historic Properties and Historic Districts; to provide for amendments to Historic Properties and Historic Districts; to provide for a certificate of appropriateness; to provide review guidelines; to provide for hearings; to provide for an application process; to provide for enforcement and penalties; to provide for severability; to provide for an effective date, and for other purposes.  Second hearing December 1, 2008.

 

An ordinance to dissolve the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Commission; to provide for staffing, operation and management of the museum; and for other purposes.  First hearing December 1, 2008; second hearing at a called meeting on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.

 

An ordinance to amend the code of ordinances, City of Dawsonville, Georgia to provide an identity theft prevention program; to comply with federal regulations relating to address discrepancies; to comply with federal regulations relating to red flags and identity theft; to provide for codification; to provide for severability; to provide for an adoption date; to provide an effective date; and for other purposes allowed by law.  First hearing December 1, 2008; second hearing at a called meeting on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.

The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Dawsonville will convene a called meeting for the purpose of setting the annual budget, announcing appointments, for public hearings on two ordinances, and for other purposes.  The called meeting of the City Council starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008 in the G.L. “Pete” Gilleland Council Chambers at City Hall located at 415 Highway 53 East, Dawsonville, Georgia.  The public is invited to attend.

The City of Dawsonville Planning Commission will convene the regularly scheduled meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008 in the G.L. Pete Gilleland Council Chambers at City Hall located at 415 Highway 53 East, Dawsonville, Georgia.  The public is invited to attend. 

 

Public Hearing request to be heard by the Dawsonville Planning Commission on Dec. 15, 2008:

 

ZA-11-08-1763:  Jeremy Porter has requested a Zoning Map Amendment for 152.139 acres off Duck Thurmond Road, TMP 070-049.  Current zoning is R1; the applicant has requested a rezoning of CIR (Restricted Industrial District) for proposed country club motorsports complex.

 

Hearing Dates;  Planning Commission – Dec. 15, 2008  at 7:00 p.m.

Notice of Mandatory Water Restrictions
Effective June 19, 2008—December 31, 2008
For the City of Dawsonville


Level IV b Drought Response Modifications


The City of Dawsonville applied for and received some relief from state mandated watering restrictions. The following is in effect until December 31, 2008 unless further
notice is received from the state DNR. All outdoor water uses are allowed on an odd/even basis, two days per week between midnight and 10:00 a.m.


* Odd addresses way water on Thursdays and Sundays.
* Even addresses may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.


The following uses are still prohibited:


*Using hydrants for any purpose other than firefighting, public health, safety or flushing;

 

and


*Washing Hard surfaces, such as streets, gutters, sidewalks and driveways except when necessary for public health and safety.

Hand watering of existing landscape using a garden hose equipped with a standard spray nozzle that automatically turns off when you release the nozzle, up to 25 minutes per day, on designated days and time (see above)


· There are no restrictions on the filling of swimming pools.

 

New landscaping may be installed by anyone (professional or homeowner/property owner) and may be watered as follows:
 

1. Any person who has successfully completed the Outdoor Water Use Registration   

  Program at http://www.urbanagcouncil.com/ may water the newly installed landscape.


2. Allowed watering hours are within the hours of 12:00 midnight to 10:00 a.m.


3. Watering is allowed for 30 days during a period of 10 weeks (3 days a week for
    10 consecutive weeks on an odd-even schedule).
